Shaintar_J&L_Rangers of the Korg Humps

Trials of Light part 2
  • There was loud noises coming from the main part of the church the winged ranger of our group went to check it out. After a few moments he called to us childer where in the church. I came out with sword in hand. As I gazed around the area my eyes stopped on a minotour our eyes locked. I stood my ground pointing my blade stating it will no make another step. With the grace of archanon with me it stopped in place.
  • The battled raged on as we fought inside of the church our fellow rangers fought childer in the village. Grek was at the main door fighting prelacy and ratzin he seem to be winning when a rat got a lucky strike on him. By his side where two goats and the female of them came and attacked that ratzin ripping it’s balls off killing it. Saving Grek’s life finished off the remaining creatures around him. The battle was over for now as we healed up we learned that the childer where controlled by collars of builder make.

*We were told that there where prelacy forces still in the area we tracked some that did survive that ran. We ended up in a forested area thought of a plan of attack.

Trials of Light Part 1
  • Traveling to the wildlands of Shaintar to the city of Tolm. I have joined up with small group of Rangers under the command of Sergeant Major Grizbuk to search out Prelacy forces in the area. They came upon some of them with Childer under their control. Each other ranger with where of great skill and interesting character. He hope to prove himself as Ranger and Paladin of the Light.
  • They encountered the first of the Prelacy as the rumors where true they where in control of the Childer. His new friend 0gre Grek move in to attack them as the other took on the other the Prelacy. He fought against ratzin and soldiers of the Prelacy then hearing huge noise coming their way. A large horned bull creature with a massive axe looked at them. Grek went to confront it while the others went to finish off that remained of the enemy. With the paladin leader down and the others taken care of they look at the collars. Tinker a ranger dwaft seem to know what it made from.
  • I took up a blade from of the Paladin looking it seems strange to him. TInker told his is arcfire enhanced blade. He chose to keep it to help with his future battles. He talked with Tinker to help him show how Arcfire items worked. They moved on with Grek with his new massive axe fixed now for him to use. They went to a nearby village to look into Childer matter around the area. Dane went up to the local church with few fellow rangers to talk with the priesthood there. Maeve O’Halloran Who took the lead while at the town talk with the Bishop there while went with to see what was going on around there.
To Tinker of Tolm

My friend tinker,

In closed in this wagon is a rock creature of arc fire creation, some builder items, and a weird drilling machine of arc fire make. Make use of it and maybe fix a nice armor for grek with the machine in middle. Also see if you could fix that arc fire armor from that one paladin. We are heading to Korg send word of items received them and possible armor fix. Your friend, Dane Landen Paladin of Light, Greenway Road

Ps: Extra builder gear, a pair of stranger bracers with bracers Maybe control strange evil creature not flame evil.

The Journy to Korg, Part 2
Torgath Gather and Tales of Woe

….or did they? With the Prelacy troops routed and the builders slain or on the run the Rangers thought they had the town safe and approached a local to ask what happened. That’s when they found out why the town had been invaded. Adam, one of the town guards, told them that the Prelacy moved in with the express purpose of taking over the mayoral home. Since they did so there have been sounds from the basement day and night.

So, the rangers headed in to check it out. Unfortunately for the integrity of the building Grek was a little too large to fit down the stairs. By the simple expedient of a judicious use of his axe he made a hole to go down into the basement. Once there they found a few builder guards and a variety of builder devices and crates. They disarmed and disabled the guards and found that the builders created a tunnel in the back of the basement. Down the tunnel the Rangers found a Nereid cowering in hiding.

The Nereid, who introduced herself as Avariel, told the Rangers that the others who came before them slayed several of her kin and drove her away, but that they were still in the cave not far from there. They were trying to steal what she called The Source. A magical gemstone imbued with the power of Life that the Nereid had lived around and revered for eons.

The Rangers approached with care, each doing their best to approach unnoticed. They followed a small stream up to its source. The gemstone known as The Source. It was a brightly glowing white stone the size of a goblin’s head on a small island in the middle of a little lake. With the stone stood several members of the Prelacy and an unidentified man they did not recognize. Spread around the rest of the room stood many other Prelacy forces.

The rangers attacked to try to drive away the thieves. Things were going well at first. Then a large gust of wind blew in from a side chamber forming a small whirlwind from which came strange creatures of air and lightning. Gobner dispatched the creatures of air in short order before being thrown across the room with shattered ribs by the creature of lightning. The creature lay about itself with wanton destruction.

The rangers, with some inadvertent aid from the lightning creature, dispatched the remaining Prelacy forces and the unknown man but things still looked bad for them. They looked bad, that is, until Grek received a moment of inspiration and released a great bellow and leapt into the salt water lake. His impact created a great wave that crested up and over the Lightning creature. When the water settled back down there was no further sign of the creature, and the whirlwind settled as well.

After making sure that no threats remained the Rangers called Adam down and introduced him to Avariel. Upon telling her that Adam would be her guardian room glowed more brightly and a soft whinny was heard. When the light faded Adam himself was glowing and Avariel told everyone that Adam was now her guardian and had been imbued with the powers of such.

Having provided the town and the Nereid with protection from future incursions the rangers headed up to the surface to head onward. As they did they came to realize that while the whirlwind was gone the storm itself was not. While the rangers dealt with the Prelacy in the basement a storm moved in above ground. The rangers chose to remain in Miller’s Wheel for the night to try to wait out the storm.

Unfortunately the storm did not die down. It merely increased in power so the Rangers set off through it to continue their journey. After two days of slogging through the rain the rangers found a cave to try to rest out the night. They were not the only ones to think of trying to do so and part way through the night a small group of bandits came into the cave. They tried to ambush the rangers but quickly fell with only their leader escaping the rapid reversal of his ambush.

With the storm intensifying the rangers chose not to pursue him. The rest of their night was spent in uncomfortable sleep and the rest of the journey to Torgath was uneventful. Upon reaching Torgath Gather they found that, unlike what the captured Prelacy told them, Torgath Gather appeared to be free of Prelacy forces so they asked around. Speaking with the head Shaman, the Mak Torkash, and the head scout they found that many Prelacy forces were spotted heading west up into the mountains.

They also found that in that same direction lies an abandoned gather with extensive mine systems that could be serving the Prelacy as their new base of operations. The Goblinesh of the Gather warned them that the mines are haunted but that did little to deter the rangers. Instead a rousing speech from Grek gained them a squad of volunteers to come with them to roust the Prelacy from the mines.

The Journy to Korg
The rescue of Miller's Wheel

Early in the month of First Hunt the newly formed Rangers of the Korg humps were called to meet Sergeant Major Grizbuk, the lead Ranger for the Rangers of Tolm. After the events from a few weeks beforehand it was deemed necessary to set up an outpost deeper within the Korg Humps. To further this he called Rangers Dane Landen, Gobner, Fixer, and Grek to his office.

The Sergeant Major gave the new group the task of searching the Korg Humps for a good location to set up a new outpost, preferably one near to Korg itself, as well as that of looking for any remaining groups of prelacy or builder forces that could be in the region after the destruction of the Builder power station. They were fully equipped for their journey and directed to report any forces they find.

Before leaving Tolm several members of the group took advantage of the Sergeant Major’s largess, including Grek who made sure to arrange for a good (and trustworthy) home for his goat friends. Tina took some convincing before she would stay and even then she almost broke down the fence as Grek walked away. All told they took two days to gather everything they thought they’d need and head out.

As they prepared to leave the group discussed how to proceed. They consensus was that it was extremely important to locate any remaining prelacy or builder troops. They also felt that it was likely that any such troops would be raiding travelers along the roads. So, in an effort to appear more ambushable, Rangers Dane and Gobner hid their weapons and cloaks in bags and concealed on their person. No-one believed for a moment that anyone would try to ambush Grek so he and Fixer stayed a ways back from the other two.

After two days of travel in this way their patience paid off. The front-most two were ambushed by a pack of Ratzin being led by two prelacy archers and a Prelacy Paladin. Much as with their previous encounters with Childer in the region these Ratzin were wearing collars that controlled their actions. In the ensuing fighting the Rangers were able to capture one of the archers as he tried to flee. After some questioning, both at the ambush site and back at the camp, they found out that the ambush group had been sent out by a prelacy commander who was now housed within the nearby town of Miller’s Wheel.

With some magical assistance from Fixer the Rangers approached Miller’s Wheel under cover of darkness. Upon getting close to the town Grek caught the whiff of Ratzin in a building nearby and attacked. A pitched battle through the streets of the small town followed, culminating with an impressive duel of flashing blades between Gobner and the Prelacy Crusader as Grek tussled with a Builder golem that was nearly his own size and Dane tried to chase down a Builder Arcmancer on horseback. Unfortunately not only that Arcmancer but all three that were in the town managed to flee successfully, but the Ranger’s freed the town from the Prelacy’s grasp.
